Hi, 2013! I’m excited to meet you. You are looking really good from where I’m standing and I would like to get to know you better.
See, 2013, I’ve got some big plans for you and me.
I want us to finally try diving. Oh, don’t show me that worried look. I know I haven’t tried it before, but I want to overcome the fear of going into deep water and hearing the Jaws musical score playing in my ears, with panic in my eyes as I imagine a great white approaching in the waters.
And why not take it a step further, eh? I’ve already penciled in a dive with the whale sharks in Donsol, Sorsogon. Although, technically, we will probably be more snorkeling than diving, but swimming with those gentle giants! That would make me one happy lady!
Okay, calm down. It won’t all be about diving for us. I’ve also booked us tickets to attend a music festival this year, similar to last year’s, but hopefully happier. They say it’s like the Coachella of the Philippines and I am ecstatic to sway to the music with the crowd and do some weird left-footed dancing under the stars.
How about some trekking? Well, you know I’m not much of a trekker or a climber—or even a hiker for that matter. But maybe something like a compromise? I’m eyeing Pinatubo. Maybe? OK. Let’s add that to the plan.
What’s that? An upcoming solo trip I mentioned when I wrote about Macau? Yes, there’s that too. Two of them by the looks of it. It’s already on the books, still in the early planning stages, though. I’ll keep you posted.
Will there be more? I think so. There’s still a few tricks I’ve got up my sleeve, but why don’t we keep that a surprise? I don’t want to ruin the fun.
It’s a new day for you and me and the year has just begun, so get ready, OK? It’s just like Penny Lane said in the movie Almost Famous, “It’s all happening!”
XO, Marj.

This post is my entry to Pinoy Travel Bloggers’ Blog Carnival for January 2013. With the theme “New Beginnings,” this carnival is hosted by Roj Braga of Adventuroj.com
So this is your entry to the blog carnival! I thought it was the other one (*wow mali moment*). Good luck on your solo travel this year!
Yup. Had already posted the resolution post before Roj tagged me. Thanks! I’m pretty excited about it 🙂
Hi Marj!
You sure do have big plans for 2013, kudos to that!
I’ve tried diving and sure it is one hell of an adventure, hope to try it again someday. If you’d like you could visit me here at Davao, diving lessons here are one of the cheapest I’ve found in the Phils.
Also, thanks for the Surf and Music festival info! Hm?? I think I might wanna be there.. hope to see you! 🙂
Wow! The last time I was in Davao was in 2005. I definitely should visit again. I’ll take you up on that offer when that happens.
The Surf & Music fest is one of the coolest I’ve been to. Usually happens around All Saint’s Day/All Souls Day holidays. You may also want to check out the Malasimbo festival which is happening this March.
See you on the road 🙂
Nice plans. Made me want to go back to Macau for the 3rd time. Hehe. Welcome to PTB and to your first blog carnival, Marj. 🙂
Thanks, Cris! 🙂
Great post! I encourage you to try mountain climbing! All the best for 2013, happy travels! 🙂
I’ve always preferred the beach to the mountains and have had some really bad experience in mountain climbing trips back when I was in high school. I suppose I should try it again sometime soon, perceptions might just change. Happy travels to you, too. See you on the road 🙂
Following!
Thanks, Rome! Following your blog back 🙂
My fear of open water will never let me do diving. But you know what they say, never say never. More travels for 2013!
I have the same fear, but really want to conquer that this year. Like you said, “never say never!” haha
More travels to you, too 🙂
